Student attacks principal at south St. Louis school

(KMOV) -- A principal is OK after being attacked by a student during school hours in south St. Louis.

School officials say a 14-year-old boy became disruptive at Lyon Alternative School.

The student was reprimanded. Then while the principal was in the hallway escorting another student to his office the troubled student punched him.

The student was booked by police and released to his guardian. The principal was not injured and refused treatment.

School officials said this is a type 1 offense, which could lead to expulsion.

The school is located on Virginia in south St. Louis and has an enrollment of 180 students. The school is for students who have had discipline problems at other schools.
