She loves her husband very much. The passion and commitment seems obvious when you meet them, but within a few months Susan (the name we'll use for her) will face a painful choice: Do I follow my soon to be deported husband back to Mexico and a life in poverty, or do I stay home with my elderly, disabled mother and continue to be her primary care giver?
Susan's husband Miguel (also not his real name) sneaked into America for the first time nearly a decade ago. He recently left the country as an undocumented resident to attend his father's funeral in Mexico. He crossed back into the U.S. illegally, got caught at the border and will likely be deported late this summer.
Our interview reveals the insecurity, pain and impact of the choices made by many illegal immigrants once they are caught and forced to leave the country for good.
