(KMOV) -- A St. Louis man was charged with sodomy after authorities allege he assaulted his stepchildren fifteen years ago.
Joseph Miller, 50, was transferred into custody by Overland police after authorities said Miller repeatedly forced his eight-year-old stepchildren to engage in sex acts with each other.
“As we see in a lot of those cases, it takes a lot of courage to come forward to talk about those kinds of incidents,” Overland Police Chief Michael Laws said. “And that’s what happened in this case.”
According to Laws, the sister, now in her 20s, came forward and told detectives about the abuse she suffered at the hands of her stepfather.
Police said when confronted, Miller admitted to the crimes to Overland detectives.
Miller is charged with four counts of sodomy and one count of use of a child in a sexual performance and is being held in the St. Louis County Jail on $100,000 bond.
