(FootballStL) -- Rams cornerback Cortland Finnegan announced on his twitter feed that he has been released by the team.
"St. Louis thank you for your letting me play for a classy franchise and coach fish nothing but love thank you all. #Motivation"
Finnegan was due to cost the Rams $10 million on this year's salary cap. There's a chance the Rams re-sign him, but that wouldn't appear likely.
Finnegan was signed by the Rams in 2012 and had interceptions in the first three games of that season. But he struggled last season with injuries, first with a leg injury and then with a fractured orbital bone.
