(KMOV) -- The woman who police believe was driving a van that struck and killed a pedestrian last month has been charged.

Yelena Pelts, 54, of Chesterfield, was charged Wednesday with felony leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident stemming from the fatal hit and run accident on February 11.

Police arrested Pelts on February 18 after she was linked to the hit-and-run crash that left Roy Joseph, 41, dead by the side of the road. His body was found along Olive Boulevard near River Valley Drive just before 7 a.m. the next morning.

Police said Joseph, of Chesterfield, had been hit as he was walking home. A police report put the time of the crash at 10 p.m.

Following the accident, authorities issued a plea for the public’s help in locating Pelts and her minivan involved in the crash. A week later, she was arrested but then released pending further investigation and charges.

Pelts was taken into police custody and charged on Wednesday with bond set at $10,000.
