Two men were arrested in Jefferson County Sunday after a crime spree allegedly involving a burglary and the kidnapping of a woman and two other women held against their will.
28-year-old Joshua Milfelt and 31-year-old Antario Smith were charged with burglary, auto theft, kidnapping and felonious restraint.
The incident began at a home south of Festus when the suspects allegedly searched a woman's bra and underwear for drugs and money they believed she stole. Police said the suspects then pulled out a knife and kidnapped the woman.
The victim was then forced to drive the suspects to Pevely Point Apartments, where the men allegedly robbed an apartment rented by a friend of the victim, taking a television, laptop, clothing and drugs.
The kidnapping victim was able to escape, but the suspects drove away in the car she was driving and returned to the home south of Festus where the kidnapping occurred.
"The two males couldn't get in the front door of the residence, so they went around to the back, kicked in the door and held two female occupants against their will," said Captain Kevin Sullivan of the Pevely Police Department.
The women restrained in the home eventually got out and one of the suspects then surrendered not long after.
The other suspect hid in the home for nine hours before surrendering to law enforcement.
No one was hurt in the entire ordeal and both suspects face eight felony charges.
Milfelt and Smith are both being held in the Jefferson County Jail with their cash-only bonds set at $50,000.
