Overnight construction on Manchester Road begins Monday

Posted: Updated:

BALLWIN, Mo. (KMOV.com) – Drivers who use Manchester Road in west St. Louis County will start to notice a raised median along the roadway.

Starting Monday, crews will close one lane of the roadway between 9:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m. while they remove a stretch of median. The construction will begin at the Ellisville city limits and head east.

Each night crews will close roughly 300 feet of the left turn lane to remove and replace the median. When the median is installed, anyone using the roadway will no longer be able to make left turns in the area.

“The next day, they might not be able to make a left turn where they were used to and they will need to go down to the next signalized intersection, make a U-turn and come back,” Missouri Department of Transportation engineer Michelle Vogele said.

The roadwork is part of the Manchester Road Great Streets project, which will allow medians, sidewalk improvements and enhancements to signs along Manchester.
