(KMOV.com) – A church in St. Peters honored first responders who saved three 14-year-old boys from an icy lake in January.
The First Assembly Church in St. Peters hosted the event. A brunch was held as church leaders recognized the brave men and women who aided in the rescue.
“In the day and age we live in, they don't have a lot of ‘Thank yous' and that's something we really wanted to highlight to our community,” said Pastor Jason Noble.
Noble also says one of the young boys, who is also a member of the church, was initially declared brain dead at the lake, located near Lake St. Louis. However, 16 days later he walked out of the hospital.
