AG warns of scams involving government, police impersonators
JEFFERSON CITY (KMOV) -- Missouri Attorney General Chris Koster is warning residents of two scams where thieves are impersonating employees of his office and law enforcement.
Scammers are calling residents and telling them they owe debt and need to pay it immediately. In the second scam, they claim they are from a "loss prevention unit" and contacting people who are entitled to a tax refund.
The scammers are asking for credit card information in order to deposit the refund.
Koster is warning residents to be vigilant with their financial information.
