ST. LOUIS (KMOV) -- Red Cross volunteers and the St. Louis Fire Department are installing pre-reserved smoke alarms this weekend to promote fire safety and prevention.
Volunteers plan to reach 250 homes each day.
“While this is a labor-intensive project, we know it saves lives,” said regional Red Cross CEO Cindy Erickson. “This effort helps us achieve our mission to prevent suffering in emergencies. I am proud to be part of it.”
Erickson added that this canvassing launches the local effort in the 5-year, Red Cross campaign to reduce home fire deaths and injuries.
