Maplewood police arrest man allegedly responsible for thefts

MAPLEWOOD, Mo. (KMOV.com) – Police in Maplewood say they have arrested the man they believe is responsible for stealing thousands of dollars in jewelry, St. Louis Cardinals memorabilia, and guns.

Investigators also say the suspect, whose name has not been released, was wearing some of the stolen items when he was arrested. The suspect was arrested after an incident at a traffic stop which led police to his home where the found the stolen items.

“We were able to locate more than 130 items that we believe to be from multiple victims,” said Maplewood Police Detective Michael Gilb. “There are multiple agencies that are contacting us about other items that were in this residence. At this point, we're contacting as many victims to get their items back.”

Police believe there may be more suspects because many thefts happened in Maplewood, Richmond Heights, and Webster Groves. The suspect arrested has been issued burglary and theft charges.
