UNIVERSITY CITY, Mo. (KMOV.com) -

The man who left a trail of bills that led police on a chase from University City to Clayton after allegedly robbing the Commerce Bank on Delmar in March was sentenced to 15 years in prison Wednesday.

Police said 40-year-old Cameron Boddie ran from the bank through streets and even backyards while discarding cash along the way.

Boddie's trail passed through a stairwell, where police found a prescription bottle belonging to him.

After police caught up to Boddie near the intersection of Jackson and Forsyth in Clayton, he was arrested without incident.

Police said Boddie told them he dropped the money because he had too much to carry.

Boddie was charged with first-degree robbery.
