(Missouri Football App) – With only two games to go, Missouri is in control of its own destiny.
Florida came close but couldn’t upset South Carolina; Georgia lost to Auburn on a last second hail mary. Mizzou must forget about the fact they didn’t receive help from the Bulldogs or Gators and just win.
If Missouri wins its last two games, it will clinch a spot in the SEC Championship Game. In order to get there it must go through two tough challenges. The match-up with Texas A&M may be more attractive from a fan perspective, but it won’t be a factor in the eastern division race if the Tigers overlook Ole Miss.
“That is clutter,” head coach Gary Pinkel said regarding the SEC East. “Teams that prepare right don’t let that affect them. They focus on what they can control, and that is playing well. That is when your mental toughness kicks in, and you do not let outside things change your focus. I will be really disappointed if we put all those kind of pressures on ourselves. That does not help you play well.”
The Rebels come into the game ranked #24 and have already taken down a highly ranked team (LSU) at home. They have also beaten Texas (at home) and Vanderbilt (road). Ole Miss’ three losses have been at the hand of highly ranked opponents: Alabama, Auburn, and Texas A&M.
Ole Miss has shown it can stay with and beat the elite in college football, especially at home. The game this upcoming weekend is winnable, but fans should not expect a cake walk.
