(Missouri Football App) - The SEC Defensive Line Player of the Week award might as well be renamed the Mizzou Defensive Lineman of the Week award.

For the second consecutive week, senior defensive end Michael Sam has earned the honor. Sam eanred the recognition after he sacked Vanderbilt quarterback Austyn Carta-Samuels three times, two of which came on fourth down plays in the 4th quarter of Mizzou’s 51-28 win Saturday. Sam also recorded three sacks in Missouri’s victory over Arkansas State Sept. 28.

Sam’s recognition is the fourth time a Tiger has won the award in 2013. Other than Sam, juniors Markus Golden and Kony Ealy were recognized after each of them returned an interception for a touchdown. Golden was honored after the Sept. 7 game against Toledo and Ealy received the award after the Tigers’ win over Indiana.
