(KMOV) – Missouri’s big 31-3 win over Tennessee on Saturday has led to two more Southeastern Conference player-of-the-week awards.
Maty Mauk has been named SEC Freshman Player of the Week while senior Justin Britt has been deemed Offensive Line Player of the Week.
Mauk accounted for 277 yards of offense in relief of the injured James Franklin, running for a career-high 114 yards on 13 carries. It’s the second time this year Mauk has won the freshman award.
Britt helped pave the way for the offense, which put up 502 yards of total offense in the win. The 339 rushing yards against the Volunteers were the most on the ground in a conference game since 2003, when the Tigers ran for 376 yards in a win over Iowa State.
The two awards now give Missouri nine SEC weekly honors this season. That’s one more than the eight the Tigers brought home in 2007, when Missouri was ranked first in the country at one point.
No. 9 Missouri (8-1, 4-1) goes on the road this weekend to take on the Kentucky Wildcats on Saturday at 11 a.m. The game will be televised on ESPN U.
