(Missouri Football App) – Redshirt freshman Maty Mauk more than held his own against the vaunted Florida defense.

Mauk completed 18 of 36 passes for 295 yards and one touchdown. Mauk threw only one interception against a very good group of defensive backs and used his legs to extend plays and avoid pressure. The Ohio native also ran for a 17 yard touchdown late in the 4th quarter that out the game away.

“He’s a great competitor. Sometimes he tries to make too much happen," Mizzou head coach Gary Pinkel said. "He’ll fire it down field when we have something close that’s open and he’ll learn from that; but I couldn’t be more pleased with him. If you looked at him in high school, that’s what you saw on tape every time you saw him play. He’s a playmaker.”

Mauk was also very effective on deeper throws. On the opening drive, he completed passes of 41 and 20 yards. He also executed on throws of 27 yards and 37 yards that led to scores.
