COLUMBIA, Mo (Missouri Football App) – Head Coach Gary Pinkel is expecting an upswing in offense in the coming weeks, citing a fully healthy James Franklin as the reason.
On Monday Pinkel said Franklin’s shoulder problem is over. The nagging injury has led to a less-than-stellar start for the returning QB, netting him just 749 yards and four TDs.
Last season Franklin threw for over 2,800 yards on 376 attempts and found the endzone 21 times.
Pinkel said he hasn’t even mentioned should pain this week, leading to expectations of a return to form.
“He’s back and we expect him to get better,” Pinkel said. “We have so much talent and with James being healthier, we hope things will be more consistent.”
Keeping him healthy will be another concern. Franklin has been sacked 11 times already this season, just seven shy of the 18 he took in all of 2011.
