COLUMBIA, Mo. (Missouri Football App) -- Mizzou junior defensive tackle Sheldon Richardson has received high praise from scouts and coaches for his play thus far in the 2012 season.

But Richardson will not play Saturday against Syracuse for violating team rules. Sources say the suspension is connected to academics.

Richardson is tied for the team lead in total tackles and is considered to have a future in the NFL.

Missouri head coach Gary Pinkel has praised Richardson several times this year, lauding how a 295-pound athlete can run as well as he does.

Sophomore defender Lucas Vincent is second behind Richardson on the depth chart, but there’s been no official word on who will start in his place.

With a win against Syracue on Saturday, MIssouri will become bowl eligible for a school-record 8th straight season.
