ST. LOUIS (KMOV) – While Missouri’s win over Central Florida on Saturday wasn’t always pretty, at least one thing was reaffirmed: Marcus Murphy is one of the country’s best return men.
Murphy broke off a 66-yard punt return for a touchdown with 7:04 left in the 3rd quarter on Saturday, turning the Tigers’ 10-7 deficit into a 14-10 lead.
The sophomore scatback was named the SEC co-special teams player of the week on Monday.
Murphy, who missed the entire 2011 season due to a shoulder injury, now has three punt return touchdowns on the season. That’s the most punt-return touchdowns for a Missouri player in a single season.
Murphy is also tied with former Tiger Jeremy Maclin for the most Mizzou career punt return touchdowns.
