(Missouri Football App) – Red shirt freshman quarterback Corbin Berkstresser could face a mighty task as the number one ranked Alabama Crimson Tide roll into town.

With starter James Franklin nursing a bum knee, Berkstresser could get the ball Saturday. Berkstresser isn’t getting wound up about the game, rather he says he is taking a methodical approach of learning from a rough outing against Vanderbilt and prepping for the next game.

“I'm just going to see what I can do to get better from this and if I'm starting next week I'll do what I can to prepare like I have so far," said Berkstresser.

He says he hasn’t written off Franklin for Saturday’s game.

"I'm hopeful about James. I know he's a tough kid and will do whatever he can to make an impact. But I'll do whatever I can too, even if I have to start," said Berkstresser.

Coach Pinkel is looking for Berkstresser to step up.

"It's a difficult situation to be in. He's a young player. It's not easy. He'll learn from it and get better. Throwing a redshirt freshman out there is tough. He did some good things and certainly has to improve."
