COLUMBIA (Missouri Basketball App) - The Missouri Tigers are off to a slow start in their season opener.

Mizzou holds a 40-34 lead over Southern Illinois Edwardsville (SIUE) at halftime. The Tigers struggled somewhat shooting, only shooting 39% from the field in the first half.

Phil Pressey led the Tigers with 13 points, hitting 5 of 10 shots. Negus Webster-Chan added 9 points, with all of then coming from outside the arc. Webster Chan was responsible for all of Mizzou's 3-pointers.

Jerome Jones led the way for SIUE with 14 points. He had the hot hand from 3-point land, hitting 4 shots from downtown.

The Tigers superior talent should allow them to pull away in the second half. Shot selection needs to improve, however.
