(Missouri Basketball App) - The Missouri Tigers are playing a slightly tougher non-conference schedule this season than in recent years.

The 2012-2013 season still features plenty of cupcakes. The Tigers open at home against Southern Illinois-Edwardsville, and play other lesser thans such as Appalachian State, Bucknell, and South Carolina State.

Weak non-conference opponents were a staple of the Mike Anderson era. Consider the squads the Tigers faced in 2010-2011, Anderson's last year in Columbia. The Tigers only played one ranked team in out of conference play, the Georgetown Hoyas. The rest of the non-league slate was very soft.
Mizzou finished 2010-2011 with an RPI of 37, largely due to facing tough Big 12 opponents.

The 2012-2013 schedule features a notable non-conference game and possibly many more. The Tigers travel to Pauley Pavilion on Dec. 28 to take on #13 UCLA. They fly to the Bahamas the week of Thanksgiving to play in the Battle 4 Atlantis. Haith's squad opens the eight team tournament  against Stanford, but could end up facing #2 Louisville and #8 Duke before leaving the Caribbean.
