COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMOV.com) -- The Mizzou football team lost to Alabama on Saturday but many fans got a little taste from the highly anticipated Mizzou men’s basketball team on Friday night.  “Mizzou Madness” was on Friday night at Mizzou Arena and many fans got to see the 2012-2013 men’s and women’s team show off their skills.

Both the men’s and women’s teams played inter-squad scrimmages.  Fans in attendance are ready for basketball season after watching a rough football season to this point.

“It was great timing since football support has been losing steam,” said sophomore Mikey Weinstein.  “The attendance was great and everyone seemed to enjoy watching the team, especially with the new transfers.”

Besides scrimmaging, the men’s team held a dunk contest to dazzle the 44, 3434 fans at the arena.  Mizzou basketball head coach Frank Haith is entering his second season with the team.  Him along with the rest of the Mizzou fans saw great athleticism and creativity during the dunk contest.

“There were a lot of good moments,” said Haith.  “I think Keion’s two dunks were pretty impressive. But Jordan’s first dunk was pretty impressive, too, with the pass from Mike Dixon from the stands, so it was a fun night. Those guys had a fun time.”

The men’s basketball team’s first preseason game is October 29 against Northwest Missouri State at Mizzou Arena at 7 p.m.
