Pelini: Huskers' goal is shutout vs. Missouri
02:16 PM CDT on Tuesday, September 30, 2008
LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) -- Nebraska coach Bo Pelini says his team's goal is to shut out fourth-ranked Missouri on Saturday.
Pelini said Tuesday that he's never gone into a game willing to make concessions to an opponent. So he's not content to give up field goals rather than touchdowns. He wants to surrender nothing.
It's a tall order for a defense that allowed 377 yards and 35 points to Virginia Tech last week.
Missouri brings in an offense averaging 54 points and 595 yards a game and a Heisman Trophy contender in quarterback Chase Daniel.

In this Sept. 13, 2008 file photo, Nebraska head coach Bo Pelini protests a call by the officials in the first half of an NCAA college football game against New Mexico State, in Lincoln, Neb. Three games into the season, Nebraska's identity under first-year coach Pelini remains a mystery with the Big 12 opener against Missouri looming.
