(HockeyStL) -- Veteran defenseman Colin White has been invited to the St. Louis Blues training camp, the team announced Tuesday.

White, 35, was a member of the San Jose Sharks last season compiling four points (one goal, three assist) and 21 penalty minutes in 54 games played.

“I am (excited),” White said after Tuesday’s scrimmage.  “I get another chance here and have some fun and work hard.  Great group of guys here, obviously playing against them last year.  Very hard to play against.”

White had a busy time flying into St. Louis earlier in the day to make the scrimmage hours later.

“I enjoyed myself, had some laughs out there with the guys.  Tried to play my game and help out where I can,” White added.

The addition of White came thanks to help from former teammate and current Blues forward Jamie Langenbrunner.

“He’s a big body.  He’s another piece to the puzzle,” Hitchcock said of White.  “He certainly didn’t hurt himself today.”

He has spent most of his 12-year NHL career with the New Jersey Devils where he won the Stanley Cup in 2000 and 2003.  White wore No. 55 in Tuesday’s scrimmage.
