ST. LOUIS (HockeyStL) – Somewhat lost in the buzz about the Blues and Vladimir Tarasenko is the other promising star – Jaden Schwartz.
Schwartz, who was drafted with the fourteenth overall pick in 2010, made his NHL debut with the Blues last season. He contributed two goals and an assist in seven games played last season.
He was impressive during Monday’s practice which included work on the special teams.
“He’s 192 pounds. He’s not a light player,” Hitchcock said. “He’s a coach’s player. He does things that you like as a coach.”
Schwartz was paired on a line with Patrik Berglund and Chris Stewart during the first two days of training camp.
“Right now, I thought that line was excellent today,” Hitchcock said. “It’ll be interesting when things get dialed up for real, but I think right now he has shown more and more everyday he’s here.”
The line will get work in at the team’s first scrimmage on Tuesday night at 7 p.m.
