(HockeyStL) -- The St. Louis Blues were able to beat the Detroit Red Wings 1-0 on Sunday behind another strong performance from Brian Elliott.
Elliott, whose struggles are well-documented, won his third game since returning to St. Louis after a two-game conditioning stint with the AHL-affiliate Peoria Rivermen. In those three games, Elliott has stopped 80 of the 84 shots faced en route to beating the Minnesota Wild, Chicago Blackhawks and Red Wings (all on the road).
It’s been a far cry from the beginning of season where he won three of 10 games played in and found himself often as a healthy scratch while the emergence of Jake Allen and Jaroslav Halak saw the most action.
This season, Elliott has posted a 6-6-1 record with an ever-declining 3.14 goals against average and an increasing .879 save percentage. The Blues will need Elliott to step up with Halak out with a lower-body injury and no timetable set for his return.
