(HockeyStL) -- You can’t score if you don’t shoot, right? That seems to be the strategy behind Alex Steen this season.
Steen entered Wednesday’s game among the league leaders in shots taken with 56 shots through 16 games.
To put it in perspective, he has taken 20 more shots than the team’s No. 2 shot taker, Vladimir Tarasenko. He is also the only Blues player to register a shot in every game this season.
The problem for Steen has been the lack of goals scored. The 6-foot-1, 206 pound forward did not score a goal on any of the 39 shots taken in the first ten games. Steen would score a goal in each of the next four games, but hasn’t scored in the last three for the Blues.
Only three players in the NHL have taken more shots and scored fewer goals this season (Phil Kessel, Taylor Hall and Rick Nash).
