(HockeyStL) – Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Playoffs was an emotional roller coaster for Blues fans.
After getting steamrolled by the Kings in the playoffs last season and shut out during the regular season this year, you would understand why Blues Nation might be a little skittish about this series.
You can also understand why Scottrade Center was on the edge of erupting as fans counted down the final minute of the game – only to be punched in the gut when the Kings tied it up like they did.
Now we know what it felt like to be the Washington Nationals in 2012, the Texas Rangers in 2011 or the Astros’ Brad Lidge after serving up the big blast to Albert Pujols in the 2005 NLCS. It sucks.
Watch as the air is let out of Scottrade Center with the flick of a wrist.
Game 1 proved there is nothing like playoff hockey.
Coach Ken Hitchcock says the team can learn from Game 1. He says the Blues can take away the fact that they can not only hang with the Kings, but beat them.
