(HockeyStL) -- With Nikolai Khabibulin out with a groin injury, the Edmonton Oilers called upon Devan Dubnyk to beat a team that he hadn’t beaten in six previous attempts.
Dubnyk entered the game against St. Louis after stopping 33 of 34 shots in a 5-1 win over the Dallas Stars the night before.
He was sharp early after stopping all eight shots faced in the first period Friday night. The Blues would pounce on Dubnyk after the Oilers spoiled a two-goal lead after the first period.
The Blues would score four unanswered goals on 22 shots taken in the final two periods.
It appears that Dubnyk, who stopped 26 of 30 shots faced Friday, may never beat the Blues.
In seven career games against St. Louis, Dubnyk is 0-7-0 with an .843 save percentage.
