(HockeyStL) – At just 5’10” and 170 pounds, center Robby Fabbri turned heads during the Ontario Hockey League’s playoffs scoring 13 goals and 15 assists and now the Ontario-native wears a blue note on his chest.
The ‘little guys’ compete hard in the corners for pucks and don’t give up. However, Fabbri will need to pack on the pounds, at least 20, in order to compete in the NHL.
"I am excited to start my career with the Blues and work my way into the lineup and be a good player for these fans to watch," he said, "[A player] that's exciting and that they'll enjoy having on their team."
EliteProspects.com calls Fabbri, “a below average sized buzz saw who works hard and has some of the best feet in the entire draft.” Watching highlights, Fabbri has a quick and deceptive wrist shot while also pounding second chance goals by burying rebounds often.
Playing for the Guelph Storm in the OHL, Fabbri amassed 45 goals and 42 assists during 58 regular season games last season before going on his playoff tear.
After being picked, Fabbri took to Twitter and answered questions via the Blues account. He also compared himself to Sobotka and described himself as a player who excels at speed and skill, but that he’d like to improve his strength. He said he looks forward to playing with TJ Oshie the most.
