(HockeySTL) -- The 2013-14 season is well underway. The Blues have started hot, posting a 7-1-2 record through the first month of the season, but for the most part, the Blues have had it relatively easy to this point. That is about to change.

October is over and November brings an entirely new type of schedule for St. Louis. During their first month of the season, the Blues had a slow schedule which included a lot of time off. In fact, the Blues have played fewer games than any other team in the NHL. At one point in October, the Blues had a full week break, during which they went on a team-bonding trip to South Carolina. The only trips the Blues will go on now will be business trips.

Arguably the Blues’ busiest month of the season, November will be a big test for the team. The club opens the month with back-to-back road games, both in Florida. The Blues play 15 total games in November, 8 of them on the road. Ten of the Blues’ games in November are separated by just one off day.

But the schedule doesn’t slow down much in December, either. The team won’t have any extended breaks until late December, leaving little opportunity work on situational game play, let alone catch their breaths.

The Blues won’t play at Scottrade Center much in the coming months. They played 7 of their first 10 games on home ice. As the season goes on, the home and away games will even out.

Head Coach Ken Hitchcock and the Blues grew accustomed to playing a busy schedule last year during the shortened 48-game season. Hitchcock said the biggest issue with the busy schedule is the lack of good practice time.

November will be a big month for the Blues.  Time will tell if they can adjust from a bit of a relaxing schedule to a schedule including a flurry of games.
