(HockeyStL) -- The St. Louis Blues have assigned Brian Elliott to the AHL-affiliate Peoria Riverman for conditioning purposes, the team announced Thursday.

Elliott, who has seen his playing time diminish with the emergence of Jake Allen, is expected to start for the Rivermen on Friday and Saturday. He is expected to return to the Blues following Saturday’s game.

The 27-year-old goalie has struggled this season after winning, along with Jaroslav Halak, the Jennings Trophy last season. He has appeared in 11 games while posting a 3-6-1 record and 3.65 goals against average. It was a far cry from leading the league with a 1.56 goals against average and .940 save percentage last season.

Elliott has not appeared in a game since replacing Halak against the Los Angeles Kings on March 5.
