(HockeyStL) -- The St. Louis Blues bolstered the left side of their defense after acquiring Jordan Leopold from the Buffalo Sabres on Saturday. The Sabres received a second round and a conditional fifth round draft selection in the 2013 NHL Draft.
Leopold, who will likely be paired with Kevin Shattenkirk or Alex Pietrangelo, posted eight points (two goals and six assists) in 24 games played this season. He has registered 202 points, including 65 goals, in his ten-year NHL career with the Calgary Flames, Colorado Avalanche, Florida Panthers, Pittsburgh Penguins and the Sabres.
The 32-year-old Minnesota native was drafted by the Anaheim Ducks in the second round of the 1999 NHL Draft.
This marks the third time Leopold has been dealt in his career.
The Blues will carry eight defenseman on their active roster after the team sent Jake Allen to the AHL-affiliate Peoria Rivermen on Saturday.
