(HockeyStL) -- When you’re hot, you’re hot. St. Louis Blues forward Chris Stewart continued his torrid pace in recent games with two more goals and an assist in a 3-0 win over the Phoenix Coyotes Thursday.

That’s seven goals and seven assists in his last ten games. Overall, it’s 13 goals and 13 assists in 27 games played.

For Stewart, it’s not about the numbers.

“I’m not necessarily worried about the points, but I feel like I’m generating a lot of offense. and getting a lot of opportunities off the rush, and just really starting to work for my chances. It’s starting to pay off,” Stewart said.

Ken Hitchcock has noticed the determination as well.

“I think confidence with him comes from competing,” Hitchcock said. “He put in all the work in the summer and he did a great job, but he’s competing.

“He’s competing on every puck. He’s not giving up on any puck. He’s not panicking under pressure. He has success because he’s determined on the puck.”

Stewart’s first goal was scored by chance when a missed shot bounced off the boards and to his stick with an open net. It was his second goal, the Blues third of the game, that opened eyes when he whizzed a shot past the glove of Coyotes goalie Mike Smith in the third period.

“He’s playing great. He’s shooting the puck -- that third goal was a great shot. He picks his corner and it’s heavy, too. You can’t stop that,” Alex Steen said.

Stewart leads the team with 26 points and is six ahead of David Perron who is second best.
