ST. LOUIS (HockeySTL) – St. Louis Blues forward T.J. Oshie will be on the ice for Game 1 against the Los Angeles Kings on Tuesday. Rookie Vladamir Tarasenko, on the other hand, will not.

Oshie had been out since March 28 while he recovered from ankle surgery and had to go full blast in practice Tuesday morning before coach Ken Hitchcock approved his activation.

With Oshie set to rejoin a line alongside Patrick Berglund and David Perron, Tarasenko is now on the outside looking in.

“I’ve always believed that the first kick in the can in playoffs is for veteran players. You give them a go,” Hitchcock said. “Tarasenko will probably get some time during the playoffs. But you want to give the veterans a chance—unless they’ve really underperformed—to prove that they want to take the ball and run with it."

Tarasenko, who has eight goals and 11 assists in 38 games this season, has scored just three times in the past 31 outings.
