ST. LOUIS (AP) -- Enforcers for the Chicago Blackhawks and St. Louis Blues tangled less than two minutes after the opening faceoff. A glance during pre-game warmups was all it took for John Scott and Cam Janssen to drop the gloves.
John Scott, 6-foot-8 and 258 pounds, said Tuesday he couldn't wait to fight Janssen, six inches shorter and 45 pounds lighter.
"I love fighting him," Scott said. "I wanted to beat him up bad, so I kind of wanted to get it over with early. I just looked at him and it's go time."
Janssen was eager to set a physical tone for the Blues, who lost 7-5 at Chicago last month but dominated in a 3-1 victory Tuesday. He didn't mind battling a much larger foe, either.
The fight at 1:52 of the first period lasted longer than a minute with both players getting in good licks.
"We both didn't want it to break up," Janssen said. "We could have gone another minute."
