(HockeyStL) -- Boys will be boys.  A prime example of that came during Tuesday’s scrimmage which resulted in a 4-4 tie.

David Backes and Roman Polak gave the fans an extra treat when they gave each other the smelly glove treatment with some pushing and shoving during the first 25-minute period.

The tussle ended with a smiling Polak looking at Backes as the two skated to their respective benches.

“I think he was bleeding after it, but he had a cut before.  I just had to scratch him a little bit with a nail.  I think that was my best bet to scratch and run,” Backes said.  “We hugged it out and life goes on.  That’s the good thing about hockey, I can buy him a cold beverage tonight and we’ll laugh about it.”

So it looks as if the theorists can put it to rest before the wild rumors spark of any ill-feelings towards between the two players.  For what it’s worth, the other players seemed to enjoy it.

“It’s good to see.  Hockey’s back,” defenseman Colin White, who was invited to Blues training camp earlier in the day, said.
