NEW ORLEANS (AP) — The Ravens and 49ers are getting ready to play for the NFL championship in New Orleans (6:30 p.m. Eastern). Baltimore earned a trip to Super Bowl 47 by beating Indianapolis, Denver and New England in the AFC playoffs. San Francisco claimed the NFC berth in the title game with victories over Green Bay and Atlanta.

WASHINGTON (AP) — One day after beating the New Jersey Devils on home ice, the Pittsburgh Penguins topped the Capitals 6-3 in Washington for their third straight win. Chris Kunitz (KOO'-nihts) scored the Penguins' last three goals of the game.

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (AP) — Phil Mickelson lost half of his six-shot lead over the opening nine holes of today's final round of the Phoenix Open. Mickelson was 1-under on the day when he walked off the ninth green. Playing partner Brandt Snedeker birdied the ninth to get to minus-4 on the day and continues to hold down second place.

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — No. 23 Minnesota slipped past visiting Iowa 62-59 this afternoon. The Golden Gophers improve to 17-5.

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (AP) — Fifth-ranked Duke hammered No. 11 North Carolina 84-63, denying UNC's Sylvia Hatchell her 900th coaching victory. She's looking to become just the third coach in women's basketball to reach that plateau, behind Pat Summitt and Jody Conradt.
