(FootballStL) — The 2013 season has not gone exactly as planned for the Rams - with a 6-8 record as evidence - but one of the few bright spots has certainly been at running back.  Rookie Zac Stacy took over the starting job in Week 5 and has not looked back since.

He has a team-high 854 yards on 202 carries (4.2 avg) and six touchdowns.  That leaves him just 146 yards shy of 1,000 which is typically the bench mark for running backs in the NFL.

"Considering he got a late start, I think it would be quite a feat, especially against some of the defenses that we faced this year,” head coach Jeff Fisher said.

"That would be amazing. I don’t know where he’s at. That would be great," Kellen Clemens said. "Certainly, the way that we lean on the run game, hopefully it’s possible. Hopefully he gets his carries. But again, we’re going to win however we can win and we’ll let the individual stats kind of play themselves out.”

Stacy, however, is not very impressed.  In fact, at every turn he wants to credit someone other than himself.

"I think the offensive line is more excited about it than I am," Stacy said. "It's just one of those deals where it all starts up front.  Those guys do a great job week in and week out.  We just want to continue that momentum."

Either way, it appears the Rams have a pretty good running game for the future.
