(FootballStL) -- The competition for the Rams starting running back job is over with two weeks to go in the preseason. After Monday's practice, Head Coach Jeff Fisher has given the nod to second year man Daryl Richardson.
"Basically, from a starting standpoint, yeah, I think Daryl would probably take the first snap against Arizona, "said Fisher." But as far as who's going to come in, that remains to be seen. We still have some more evaluating to do."
Isaiah Pead started in the Rams backfield against Green Bay, and managed just 20 yards on 11 carries. Benny Cunningham saw increased playing time against the Packers with 6 carries for 19 yards. 17 of those yards came on one run.
As for Richardson, he came into the season with more carries than any back on the roster. Richardson rushed for 475 yards on 98 carries while backing up Steven Jackson.
