(FootballSTL) -- The connections between the Rams and Tennessee Titans run deep.
Former Titans/Oilers and current Rams head coach Jeff Fisher, along with St. Louis assistants Dave McGinnis, Joe Bowden, Chuck Cecil, Ray Sherman and Frank Bush all have ties to the Tennessee franchise. Jared Cook (2009-12), William Hayes (2008-11) and Will Witherspoon (2010-12) are all with the Rams. The most anticipated of all the names will be Cortland Finnegan (2006-11).
Finnegan is in his second year with the Rams after signing a free agent contract. The feisty cornerback will face his former team on Sunday when the Titans invade the Edward Jones Dome. Meanwhile, the Titans acknowledged that they’ll be ready for the scrappy Finnegan.
Finnegan was drafted by Tennessee in the seventh round of the 2006 NFL Draft and spent his first 6 seasons with the Titans.
“That guy is high energy and he does a good job of playing hard all day,” said Titans receiver Nate Washington. “But his intensity is definitely emotional for the way he carries himself with high energy every single day. So we’re going to have to match his intensity.”
“He’s a good player, but he likes to talk,” said Titans Tight End Delanie Walker. “ If you let him talk and get in your ear, he can throw you off your game. I tend not to pay attention to him and he still talks. He makes plays and he’s been doing it a long time, so I’m going to have to bring my A-game against him. This year, I just feel like talking back to him, so we’re going to see what happens.”
