(FootballStL) -- They have only two of them all season, but St. Louis Rams head coach Steve Spagnuolo says a win in the team’s final game still matters despite not making the playoffs.

“I think (a win) carries you through the offseason,” Spagnuolo said.  “We have not had that in the last two years.”

The Rams were only a win away from making the playoffs last season but were beaten by the Seattle Seahawks in a winner-takes-all matchup in the final game of the season.

Aside from heading into the offseason off a win, Spagnuolo really wants the win for the “special feeling” in the locker room following a win.

“It just takes so much to win in this league and the efforts during the week. It is hard to win,” Spagnuolo said.  “If you have never been a part of it you would not know, but I can tell you it is special.  We will be playing for that special feeling this Sunday.”

A win on Sunday against the playoff-bound San Francisco 49ers will also rule out the chance of having the first overall pick in the 2012 NFL Draft.
