Williams, the former Saints defensive coordinator, apologized for running a bounty program that targeted opposing players for injuries. In a statement, he says the program was a "terrible mistake and we knew it was wrong while we were doing it." The NFL on Friday said that it had found between 22 and 27 Saints participated in the program over the last three seasons, and that players including quarterbacks Kurt Warner and Brett Favre were targeted. ST. LOUIS (FootballStL) -- Gregg Williams was brought to St. Louis this offseason to revamp the Rams defense which ranked near the bottom in most of the defensive categories in 2011.  Instead, Williams was suspended indefinitely by NFL commissioner Roger Goodell for his involvement in the Saints bounty scandal.

At his annual golf tournament in Excelsior Springs, Missouri, Williams told ESPN.com’s Elizabeth Merrill that he will coach again.

Williams refused to speak about the bounty scandal and focused on the golf tournament which was “all about the kids.”

The former Saints coordinator has since issued an apology for his involvement in the scandal.
