ST. LOUIS (FootballStL) -- Last Sunday it was Frank Gore and the San Francisco 49ers.  This week its C.J. Spiller and the Bills.

It’ll be a tough task in Buffalo for the Rams defense, but it will also be another test for the defense to prove that holding Frank Gore to 58 yards on 23 carries last week wasn’t a fluke.

“(The Bills) got as good a one-two punch in the backfield as anybody in the league and obviously the pressure is on our defense,” Jeff Fisher said.  “Sunday we faced the No. 2 team in National Football League in rushing.  This week we face the third team, they’re third in rushing average and then unfortunately, not to look ahead, but the Vikings are first in rushing average.  So, we’re finding out about our defense.  It is a challenge.”

The team’s leading rusher, C.J. Spiller, has been complimented with Fred Jackson, who set season highs in attempts and yards last week.  Jackson rushed the ball 25 times for 109 yards in a 34-18 win against the Jaguars.

Spiller has been dominant all season long and is 93 yards shy of his first career 1,000-yard rushing season.

“C.J.’s average per carry and they get the ball to him dozens of ways through quick screens and screens and hands off, so it really keeps you honest and you can have people unblocked in the hole and he makes them miss. So, we’ve got our hands full,” Fisher added.

Spiller’s average per carry is a robust 6.6 yards.

“Yeah, he’s explosive.  He jumps off the film,” Chris Long said.  “We’re watching film as a unit and he definitely has some plays that make you and everybody in the room start laughing almost because he’s so athletic.  He makes so many people miss in one play.  We’re just going to have to rally the ball.  I mean, honestly, it just takes more than one guy to get him down.”
