(FootballStL) -- The St. Louis Rams have hired a new defensive coordinator after Gregg Williams was suspended by the league for his role in the “bounty scandal.”
According to reports, the Rams have hired former Cowboys defensive coordinator Rob Ryan to serve in the same role.
The news of the hiring came roughly five minutes after news broke of the Saints firing defensive coordinator and former Rams head coach Steve Spagnuolo.
Spagnuolo spent three seasons as the Rams head coach, but was fired after finishing 2-14 last season and 10-38 overall at the helm.
The hiring of Ryan should bolster an already impressive coaching staff headed by Jeff Fisher. The Rams were tied at the top of the league with 52 sacks recorded last season.
