(FootballStL) -- It appears that the St. Louis Rams will need to take a proactive approach if the team plans to land Tavon Austin in the NFL Draft.
Austin, a 5-foot-8 wide receiver, has seen his stock rise greatly in the final hours leading up to the draft on Thursday night.
Many experts believe the Buffalo Bills, who pick No. 8 overall, have Austin as their top player on their draft board, but are open to trading the pick. That’s where the Rams will need to be if they hope to land Austin, which has yet to be determined.
The New York Jets, who pick No. 9 and No. 13 overall, also appear to be highly interested in the West Virginia standout.
Rams general manager Les Snead said the team would be open to trades when he and Jeff Fisher met with the media on Monday.
“How many phone lines do we have in there? We have three or four or five,” Snead said. “We’ll definitely take calls. We’ll have fun.”
The Rams would likely trade their No. 22 overall pick (from Washington) to add picks if they decide to trade up from the No. 16 overall spot.
