ST. LOUIS (FootballStL) -- The St. Louis Rams used the much needed bye week to slowly return to full strength as the team prepares to play the San Francisco 49ers this Sunday.

Among those to return have been wide receiver Danny Amendola (shoulder) and offensive lineman Rodger Saffold (knee).

Amendola was expected to miss up to eight weeks, but it seems likely he will return this week after missing only three games.

“When Danny returns, that should help us.  You need to take balance in the plus territory,” Jeff Fisher said.  “You need to be able to have a run threat and a passing threat.  So, with Danny coming back, that should help us.”

The offensive line is also nearing a major upgrade with the return of Saffold, who returned early from a scary neck injury only to injure his knee in the next game.  The return should spark a young offensive front that has allowed Sam Bradford to be sacked 23 times through the first half of the season.

Along with Saffold it appears center Scott Wells, who is now eligible to practice this week, could rejoin the offensive front after breaking a foot in the season-opener.  Wells had been aiming to return from the IR this Sunday since the injury occurred.

Wells practiced for the first time on Wednesday since the injury, but has not been placed on the active roster.
