ST. LOUIS (FootballStL) -- The last time the Rams wore their throwback jerseys they beat the heavily favored Saints 31-21 on October 30, 2011. It was the first of two wins in 2011.
Maybe it is the luck of the jerseys because the Rams upset the favored 49ers in overtime 16-13 to stay alive in the playoff hunt.
The last time the Rams wore this style of jersey the team had one of the greatest offenses in NFL history, dubbed the Greatest Show on Turf. But on a day that paid homage to 75 years of Rams football, the offense did just enough to get the win.
The offense didn’t make it into the end zone on Sunday and only mustered 293 yards of total offense in nearly five full quarters of action. The main reason for the lack of offense could be pinned on the 49ers rush defense which held the Rams to 85 yards on the ground.
Thirty-one of those yards were on three scrambles from Sam Bradford late in the game. Jackson only gained 48 yards on 21 carries.
