(FootballStL) – The Rams can break their lease with the Edward Jones Dome after next season, and a recent photo posted to rookie Tavon Austin’s Instagram account won’t alleviate fears the team will stay in St. Louis.
Under the username TayAustin01, Austin posted a photo of him posing with a group named “Bring Back the Los Angeles Rams” at the NFLPA Bowl in Southern California on Saturday.
The group, who is trying to get the team back to Los Angeles, later posted the photo to their Facebook page.
It wasn’t known if Austin was aware of the group’s intentions, or if he simply thought they were Rams fans. He wrote this caption next to the photo:
“I got there front they got my back #RamsNation #lovemyfans #11”
The owners of the Edward Jones Dome remain hopeful the Rams won’t leave after city leaders rejected $700 million in upgrades sought by the team.
The lease requires the St. Louis Regional Convention and Sports Complex Authority to provide the team with a “first-tier” stadium by 2015, which is 20 years after the building opened.
The Rams have said little about their plans.
Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon has taken over negotiations with Rams owner Stan Kroenke after arbitration between the team and the St. Louis Convention & Visitors Commission failed. The commission operates the dome.
